It has been an eventful year. That is the year 2014. Five days into the new year and it still seems like things will be big and unraveling. The month of December was filled with excitement and fullness when I took a group of 24 students on ‘their trip of a lifetime’ to our biennial student exchange program. Whirlwind style I caught up with friends and family, squeezing in chickenpox for Lena and a bad flu for myself. For the past three days I have now explored the city of Dubai before departing for India today.
I’m not sure what to make of this man-made city in the desert. Consumerism and capitalism is overwhelming, the city boasts with having the tallest shopping malls, towers, buildings, canal systems etc. I will have to do a little more research before I’m convinced that just because the city recycles and reuses 90% of water and desalinates 10% that all is well.
I am rushing off to the airport now. Next post in mother India!
Here some impressions of Dubai
